Mitel today announced the launch of Mitel Mobile, a wireless voice and data service designed for corporate customers. The service is fully integrated with Mitel’s leading unified communications and collaboration (UCC) applications and offers business customers the ability to work with a single vendor for all of their customer premise, wireline, wireless, voice, and data communications needs.

Businesses can now upgrade from traditional wireless carrier voice and data services with Mitel Mobile service. While Mitel has long provided a broad solution set, including wireline network services, to its customers, wireless services were typically contracted separately—until now. By offering wireless network services on a single bill from one service provider, Mitel lets businesses take control of their wireless service expenditures and provide a single point of accountability for customer care and support, which is integrated with proven, industry leading, communications platforms. Additionally, by leveraging the features within their proven, industry-leading communications platforms, Mitel Communications Director (MCD) and Mitel Multi-Instance Communications Director (MICD), enable voice and UCC features to be managed like data applications on a corporate server.

Customers taking advantage of Mitel Mobile will receive similar coverage and benefits associated with any major wireless network services provider, with comparable service level agreements and device options, along with enterprise-wide bundling with wireline access and UCC features. This includes integration with employees’ desktop phones or local voice services. In addition, employees across the organization will be able to share wireless minutes. The network will cover up to 275 million users in North America and support wireless handsets, smartphones, and wireless data cards as well as the provision for wireless backup of traditional wireline connectivity, providing for increased redundancy and business continuity.

According to customer surveys conducted by Mitel using a process validated by Walker Information, up to 98 percent of Mitel customers are satisfied or very satisfied with the care they receive through their relationships with Mitel. The quarterly surveys measure customer satisfaction in three key performance areas: issue resolution, customer care center experience, and field services/technician interaction. The results show that alongside Mitel’s award-winning unified communications solutions, Mitel also provides an excellent customer care experience.

Resolution
Timely and complete resolution is the end goal for any customer care center, and Mitel’s high scores in this area reflect its commitment to effectively solving customer challenges. According to the survey, 94 percent of Mitel’s customers are satisfied or very satisfied with the timeliness of resolving their issues. Additionally, 97 percent are satisfied or very satisfied with the level of completion of their request.

Customer Care Center
Mitel understands the need to meet customer demands in a timely and effective manner which requires that its well trained staff move quickly to meet expectations. 96 percent of customers said they are satisfied or very satisfied with speed of answers to queries and knowledge level of the Mitel representative assisting them.

Field Services/Technician
According to the survey, field and technician services rank at the top for Mitel customers. 98 percent of customers are satisfied or very satisfied with the professionalism and communications abilities of the Mitel technicians. Additionally, 98 percent are satisfied or very satisfied with the efficiency of their site technicians, making on-site support the highest-ranked category in the survey.

Mitel has been awarded a six-year contract to supply 96 institutions of the Dutch government with future-proof IP communications solutions.

The large-scale IP deployment is part of OverheidsTelecom 2006 (OT2006), a Dutch government program whereby a number of telecom services are tendered in one master agreement by ministries and other government authorities and subdivided into clusters. The OT2006 cluster covered by this contract will, amongst others, see eight ministries, seven provincial authorities, 30 municipalities and 51 administrative bodies and advisory boards totalling more than 52,000 lines move to a Mitel platform over the next four years.

In its continuing efforts to be the communications industry’s environmental leader, Mitel  has reached agreement with Global Investment Recovery (Global), a full-service recycler and processor of electronic equipment, to fully recycle phones and hardware in selected areas where new Mitel equipment is installed.

“Global applauds Mitel for creating an innovative program that ensures electronic material is properly recycled, recovering reusable commodities, not dumped into landfill sites,” said Lisa Collins, Global sales and marketing manager. “We are pleased to have been selected to manage the Mitel program and we know this program will inspire other businesses to emulate Mitel’s environmentally friendly total product lifecycle management.”

Mitel PARTNERprogram channel partner members will be on the front lines of this important assault on electronic equipment pollution, which will be supported and endorsed by Mitel in various commercial programs. Using a login page on the Global Web site, Mitel channel partners can notify Global about equipment ready for pickup after a new Mitel deployment. Global’s logistics team will provide packing and shipping instructions to safely transport it to one of processing facilities, where the equipment will be shredded, sorted and reused, thus eliminating up to 100 percent of the e-scrap. The resulting shredded commodities will be sold in the commodities markets, and ultimately used again in another manufacturing process, effectively closing the entire loop for the recycling process.

Satisfying the communication needs of a 450-plus employee, multi-state law firm can be challenging, especially when you factor the extensive travel schedules of trial lawyers and the importance of constant accessibility. But that is not something that keeps Bowman and Brooke LLP’s (www.bowmanandbrooke.com) chief information officer, Michael Cammack up at night.

As an early adopter of Mitel® IP communications solutions, Bowman and Brooke benefited from the cost savings of IP trunking between office locations. “By using the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) as an IP gateway we could leverage the cabling structure and Mitel TDM phones in our existing offices but still provide the same functionality as the IP phones we installed in our new facilities,” said Cammack.

Once Cammack had a taste of IP he wanted to create a rich converged IP communications environment. Mitel responded by enhancing Bowman and Brooke’s existing IP communications and delivering integration into Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005. With the recent arrival of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007, aimed to enhance inter-office communications and collaboration, Cammack was keen to migrate from his current Live Communications Server deployment.

“We reviewed proposals from Cisco® and ShoreTel®, but they required a rip and replacement scenario whereas Mitel provided investment protection and seamless integration into the Microsoft Office Communications Server environment,” said Cammack.

Using the Mitel Live Business Gateway integrated into Office Communications Server 2007 and the 3300 ICP allows users to obtain better access to information and people right from the desktop. Users will benefit from click-to-call capabilities within Microsoft Office documents and enables attorneys to restrict visibility of their presence status from select users.

Because of busy schedules and frequent travel Bowman and Brooke believes it is important to allow employees the opportunity to work from where they want to work. To do this, they implemented the Mitel Teleworker Solution that can securely extend the features and functionality of the office phone to any location with a broadband connection such as a home office, hotel room, or other remote site.

Additionally, to ensure clients have access to their attorney anytime, anywhere, Bowman and Brooke have provided key attorneys with a single phone number and single mailbox for multiple devices via Mitel Mobile Extension. Calls coming into their office can be simultaneously routed to any business, mobile, home phone, teleworker, or wireless device ensuring the call is received regardless of where the attorney is. The presence status of the user is updated no matter which device they are using.

The firm is also deploying Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 to unify its messaging environment.  The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging uses a direct Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) connection to the 3300 ICP. Mitel is one of only three vendors that do not require a separate SIP gateway connection to an Exchange Server 2007 to support multiple forms of unified communications including voice, email, and fax.

When Pennsylvania-based World Travel, Inc., one of the largest corporate travel management companies in the United States, determined it needed the ability to control call flow to meet demand while still providing dedicated agents to their customers, they turned to Mitel® for a contact center solution that is not only highly scalable, but which allows for a single “virtual” contact center enabling agents to work from remote locations.

The Mitel Contact Center Management solution provides World Travel with advanced, browser-based capabilities for reporting on all agents and queues over any date and time horizon by viewing historical events for a particular date, in simulated real time as well as real-time monitoring of all contact center activities for queues and agents.

This allows for effective contact center management to accurately forecast workload at the desired level of service. Supervisors can also respond instantly to changing traffic volumes and ensure service levels are maintained by deploying calls to idle agents wherever they are, a feature that World Travel has used extensively with its dispersed agents.

Mitel Networks Corporation and Inter-Tel (Delaware), Incorporated (NASDAQ: INTL) today announced the completion of their merger. As a result of the merger, Inter-Tel is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitel® and Inter-Tel stockholders will receive $25.60 in cash for each Inter-Tel share they held prior to the closing.

Mitel hospitality solutions include capabilities that can genuinely improve the guest experience. Using the display screen on Mitel’s 5300 series IP phones hoteliers can promote hotel amenities by inviting guests to book spa appointments and tee times, and order room service with the touch of a button.

Sun Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW) and Mitel® Networks Corp. today announced they have entered into a global OEM agreement that will help drive the use of converged voice and data applications in multi-tenant environments. Mitel’s unified communications call control software will be integrated into industry-standard Sun Microsystems servers for enterprise and carrier hosted and customer premise environments. Sun and Mitel have also created a unified solution offering with Mitel’s award winning contact center(1) software on Sun Ray™ ultra-thin client hardware.

The Multi-Instance Call Server (MICS) allows as many as 200 compartmentalized instances of the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (IPC) call control software to run simultaneously within Sun Fire™ X4200 and X4600 servers. The MICS allows multiple businesses, departments and offices to share the same server, but use a specific version of call control software and use the features and functions that meet their particular needs. For example, tenanted on the same server, one customer can run version 8.0 of Mitel Call Control with Mitel Customer Interaction Solutions applications, while a second customer can run version 7.1 of Mitel Call Control with Mitel Your Assistant™ and Mitel Mobile Extension unified communications applications.

The result is lower power consumption, one piece of hardware, and a single management tool to add / change applications on a per customer, per request basis.

This solution allows for a single hot desk sign-on for both the Sun Ray ultra-thin client terminal and the Mitel IP phone. The Mitel stand, portable to any Mitel set, has a Java CardTM technology slot to allow for Sun Ray and Mitel IP phone hot desking. This small footprint device delivers all of the traditional Sun Ray features with lower power consumption than a separate phone and thin client, delivered at an attractive price. The Sun Ray IP Phone Bundle is particularly well-suited for cost and security-sensitive environments such as contact centers, education, healthcare, service providers, and financial services. 

The companies are also collaborating to deliver the Sun Ray VoIP solution whereby the Mitel Contact Center application will reside on the server, allowing contact center agents to securely “hot desk” into the phone at any available terminal using their personal profile Java Card. The Sun Ray VoIP application can be easily adapted to other vertical markets, including healthcare. As doctors conduct their rounds, the accessibility offered by the hot desk feature ensures they can be quickly and easily reached on the phone in any room, in case of emergency.
