alcatel-lucentAlcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced the introduction of two new IP routers designed to give service providers an economically viable alternative for offering smaller communities the same advanced mobile, residential and business services currently delivered in larger metropolitan areas. The new products, which will expand the addressable market of Alcatel-Lucent’s industry-leading Service Router portfolio, will extend the benefits of service routing further out into the network and also enable mission-critical verticals such as utilities, transportation, healthcare, public safety, and financial institutions to confidently transform their networks to all-IP with a solution scaled to their needs.

Alcatel-Lucent is extending its 7750 Service Router (SR) family with the introduction of two new routers, the 7750 SR-c12 and 7750 SR-c4. Both products are fully featured multiservice routers offering the same rich suite of applications for which the Service Router is known, but in a smaller form-factor. The products are scaled to meet the requirements of smaller ‘points of presence’ in large service provider networks, and to address IP/MPLS network requirements for smaller-scale service providers and mission critical verticals. The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR-c12 and 7750 SR-c4 are powered by the FP2 chipset, Alcatel-Lucent’s break through silicon which delivers sophisticated and optimized network processing and traffic management at speeds up to 100Gb/s. Both also run under the same operating system as the entire Service Router family for seamless interworking, consistent service delivery and simplified operations. [click to read the rest…]
